Klaus von Nichtssagend Gallery is very pleased to open Ludlow/Leipzig, a two-person show of new works by Vienna-based American painter Benjamin Butler and Leipzig painter Bastian Muhr on June 26th, 2020. The show consists of a new series of oil paintings on paper by Muhr, and recently completed monochromatic multi-canvas paintings by Butler. Ludlow/Leipzig is the occasion for Muhr’s first show in New York, exhibiting works made while on a 2020 residency at the Josef and Anni Albers Foundation in Connecticut. American-born Butler has been represented by Klaus von Nichtssagend Gallery since 2012, the year he relocated from New York to Vienna, Austria. A publication of correspondences between Butler and Muhr will be produced to coincide with the exhibition, which will see a new iteration in Leipzig at Galerie Jochen Hempel in August, 2020.
